William S. Canning Boulevard Roundabout
Steere Engineering provided construction inspection services to the Town of Tiverton for roadway construction, in accordance with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) inspection requirements. Steere’s Inspector performed all the duties of a Resident Engineer, including record keeping and arrangement of materials testing in accordance with RIDOT’s Procedures for Uniform Record Keeping and Master Schedule of Testing.
The Town of Tiverton, in cooperation with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT), built a new roundabout to accommodate traffic anticipated for the new casino in Tiverton. The project area included 700 feet northwest of Hurst Lane (on William S. Canning Boulevard), and 470 feet north and 300 feet south of Hurst Lane (on Stafford Road). The total length of the project was approximately 0.20 miles.
The work for this project included removal of existing bituminous pavement and placement of new bituminous concrete surface and base courses, removal of existing sidewalk and concrete curb, installation of new bituminous sidewalks and concrete curb, installation of new bituminous driveways, curb ramps, and detectable warning systems, installation of a truck apron, installation and/ or resetting of granite curb, relocation of utilities, drainage improvements, signing and striping, landscaping, and lighting.
