RIDOT I-95 NB Viaduct Design Build Update - Smith Street Bridge Replacement

The Steere-designed Smith Street Bridge Replacement is well underway as part of the $265 million RIDOT I-95NB Viaduct Design-Build Project in Providence.

The existing structurally deficient bridge carries Smith Street over I-95NB & SB and will be replaced in two stages with a new curved steel plate girder bridge. As part of the replacement, the span lengths will be modified to widen the northbound barrel and accommodate I-95NB and a new C-D road. The new bridge will feature several streetscape elements including ornamental fencing and FRP pylons as well as new retaining walls along Park Street.
