WTS - Rhode Island Construction Tour: Centerville Road Bridge
On October 22nd, WTS’s Anita Marshall, hosted a construction tour of the Centerville Road Bridge. RIDOT representatives Paul Schofield and John Lonardo provided an overview of the design-build project which is utilizing accelerated bridge construction methods to replace the superstructures for the Centerville and Tollgate Road bridges.
Over the course of several weekend closures, RIDOT will demolish portions of the bridges and use self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) to lift each bridge deck off the temporary supports and slide it into place.
Some of the EIT’s and staff of Steere Engineering were present to inspect and hear an overview of what is planned for these highly traveled bridges in the very near future.
