Patricia Steere, PE
Founder

Mrs. Steere began her career as a structural engineer in 1981 and spent nearly 30 years as part of the Rhode Island engineering community focusing on bridge design. Prior to starting the firm, Patty served as the Bridge Project Manager for RIDOT’s $600 million “IWAY” project, honing her leadership and project management skills as she juggled several ongoing projects with demanding schedule requirements. She started Steere Engineering in 2010 as a one-person structural engineering firm working primarily with contractors on temporary works for bridge construction projects in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Through her leadership and passion for engineering, Mrs. Steere strategically developed the company into an established, multi-disciplined engineering firm with a reputation for quality.

In addition to leading and supporting the growth of the Steere team, Mrs. Steere served on numerous boards and held leadership positions for organizations such as the Rhode Island Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, Civil Engineering Advisory Board at the University of Rhode Island, ACEC-RI and the Rhode Island FRP in Infrastructure Committee. Her 40 years of experience includes bridge design, inspection, and ratings; building design; and bridge construction support services in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Her bridge design experience includes the design of a network arch bridge, as well as simple and continuous span bridges, including steel girders and prestressed concrete box beams, and bridge rehabilitation.

Patty officially retired from day-to-day operations in November 2021, after a thoughtful ownership transition.
