Merve Iplikcioglu Kirtan, PE
Vice President/Principal | Bridge/Rating Lead

Mrs. Iplikcioglu Kirtan has provided a wide range of bridge engineering and project management services for transportation projects in New England. As a Project Manager, she oversees engineering services, including budgeting, administration, and mentoring. As a Bridge Design Engineer, she has performed structural analysis for highway and pedestrian bridges, including dynamic and static 3D finite element analysis for various bridge superstructures (high skewed, curved, straight), and her substructure experience includes shallow and deep foundation design (pile-supported, drilled shafts). Her accelerated bridge construction experience includes SPMT bridge move and UHPC concrete design. She was the Lead Structural Engineer of the I-84 accelerated bridge move project in Southington, Connecticut, winning the ACEC/MA 2015 Engineering Excellence Award as a Bronze Award Winner and the Innovative Transportation Solution award by WTS (Women in Transpiration) Connecticut in 2015. Her additional experience includes FRP truss span design and FRP structural strengthening, bridge load rating, bridge inspection, construction procedures, temporary work design, and bridge 3D finite element modeling using non-destructive test data. She was part of “Whatever Happened to Long-Term Bridge Design?” National Science Foundation (NSF) Partner for Innovation (PFI) research team during her study at Tuft University. Providence Business News named her as part of the 40 Under 40 Celebrating Young Leaders in 2018.
