President/Principal
Marty joined Steere in 2011 shortly after the opening, having worked previously with Patricia Steere at another Northeast firm. He quickly became a key asset helping Patty develop and expand the business. As an owner since 2018, Marty transitioned to President in 2021 after serving as Executive Vice President. With over 27 years of experience in structural analysis and design, Marty’s main focus is now financial oversight and management of Steere Engineering while providing mentorship and quality assurance to Steere’s project deliverables.
Marty’s experience includes structural design of bridges and buildings, contractor support services, bridge ratings and inspections, and structural design of earth retaining structures. Marty’s bridge experience includes design, inspections, and ratings of various bridge types including vehicular, railroad and pedestrian, ranging from simple to complex in nature. He’s been instrumental in Steere’s Design/Build projects and the adoption of accelerated bridge construction (ABCs) techniques. He also leads Steere’s efforts in supporting contractors over the years by providing design oversight and coordination, structural engineering, developing demolition procedures, and temporary works designs. In 2014, Marty served as the contractor’s Structural Engineer in Charge of the accelerated bridge replacement of I-84 eastbound and westbound over Marion Avenue (Bridge Nos. 01235 & 01236) in Southington, Connecticut performing structural analysis and bridge monitoring for the accelerated bridge project.
He previously served as President of the Providence Engineering Society and is now an active member, and is a member of ACEC-RI. Mr. Pierce holds a Master of Science in Structural Engineering from the University of Rhode Island.
